GEO is up to 208 million. Japan not in yet. Box office mojo has totals for 2017 movies and out of 276 movies Geo landed at 39th for money making. It beat john wick 2 and Madea Halloween 2. Domestically they may have beat him but no way near internationally. This goes to prove the critics don't know squat. Most of the movies that beat him are the comic book ones. He beat a lot of movies but they seem to forget that.

Just to let everyone know just how stupid critics are GEO and AFM landed on the worst 2017 movie list. Goes to show critics couldn't find their way on a foggy night. AFM really didn't get a chance and GEO will make back it's cost.
On access Hollywood they are saying movie box office is down because people are sick of the sequels, not all the sequels are good. Adults aren't really crazy for all the comic book movies they are more for the kids. Gerry's movies wasn't mentioned by them. They really only liked Star wars and Wonder Woman.

So it was a double shot at him by placing them one after another. I was surprised they included AFM because it was so limited. Michael F., Morgan Freeman, Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones were just some of the other stars trashed for their movies. |

Geo is almost $210 million per box office mojo. It opens in Japan on January 19th .. I Hope it will do well enough to make it to. $225 million that would make a profit of a 100 million which should keep it being a total lost for the investors. |

I get overhead but I don't get why a film has to clear 100 million not to be a total loss...? |

Geostorm's production cost was $125 million - London Has Fallen made that same $208 million and it's production budget was $60 million which had LHF making just about 3 times its budget. GEostorm hasn't doubled its budget yet, it really should have made at least $300 million and that was on the low side. THe domestic Box office killed any profits for Geostorm it made only 30 million here and since the studios get the bulk of their profits from the domestic box office that is why that $100 million is not enough to make it successful. I was expecting at least a 100 million domestically, such a shame that the U.S. Had 3 major hurricanes killing any potential interest even with bad reviews.

I think they knew they could never count on the American box office, most films can't and make most of their receipts overseas. I wonder why though the Japan release seems so late? Is it a way to count or not count something in a different year with a write off or return? Surprised they didn't release there in December.
