Don't remember which thread I posted about The Snowman being the weak competition. It is getting 'wish I could unsee it' review headlines and was projected to make a dismal 6 million at the box office this weekend but instead has only made 3.7 Yeeeoouch! So I really think adult audiences might rather turn to Geostorm, little realistic disaster action piece rather than a terrible thriller. Not huge numbers perhaps, but Snowman is looking to be one of the worst movies of the year so that helps.

There is a post at the WO site call showbiz411 and it is saying that WB will be pulling GEO because it isn't making money and they named a bunch of movies that are going to be pulled. Blade Runner, American Made and Snowman. HW is losing so much money by people not going to the movies that they aren't going to invest to keep them out there. This is horrible news because they said GEO could be pulled by Sunday. I don't know if they mean tomorrow or next Sunday.

Why would WB do that.. You would that they would give Geostorm a week at least? I hope the film does better in the foreign markets it just can't be another Gods of Egypt for Gerry - it is not fair!!!!!!

Well Harrison Ford and Tom Cruise and Michael Fassbinder aren't having any luck either. There were a lot of films mentioned. People wait a couple of Weeks and it is cheaper on the pay per view then going to the cinemas. Sounds like they are going the way of malls and big name retail stores.

Pictures get pulled faster in order to turn then around quicker for video and on demand releases, splitting the difference in a weaker box office by trying to make up the video sales. I don't think that always works though and I imagine there is a way to take a write off instead. WB got lucky with Wonder Woman but I think they were having a bad year otherwise. If the press is so bad stateside, they may drop the pictures rather than have the bad PR and just do international releases. Happening more and more these days though, most films don't stay in theaters very long unless it is a big one. Small films just can't win
