Disappointed that PLANE trailer release got zero press from entertainment publications..Deadline Hollywood, etc. Good news the blog entertainment sites covered the release and liked it. 👍😊

Deadline has an article where Lionsgate is moving up the Plane by two weeks to January 13th. Gerry also posted on his ig about it.

There was a comment about the date change, it said after audience saw the trailer and laughed at the title they reacted and said they can't wait to see it because it looks good. The weird title didn't turn them off. That title has people talking so maybe it is a good thing after all.

I didn’t realize the move of PLANE was done to take advantage of this…
Lionsgate is moving the Gerard Butler action pic “Plane” up 2 weeks to MLK weekend on Jan 13, ..”
this will give the film a 4 day weekend for its release, this is a good move normally.. but that darn Avatar sequel will still be in the along with new releases “House Party” and the Tom Hanks pic Otto and The Devil ConspiracyHorror Thriller to a lot of competition.
the 27th would have been better no competition at all box office mojo list indicates.

Well it looks like Avatar 2 is going to be a big box office success, from Deadline Hollywood regarding Box office profits- It does not look like it was a good move for PLANE to move up its release date especially if it can’t get enough theaters….
quote…
“So if The Way of Water comes in at the low end, the expectation is that the movie will hold, which Cameron fare like Avatar and Titanic has been known to do. The question is, to what degree? Can the sequel hold No. 1 beyond MLK weekend? Or will Gerard Butler’s Plane stand in its way? Word is Disney has a hold on big and premium auditoriums for the next five weekends.”

Thanks Elsa, so glad to see some clips have started.. need to get interest in high gear there is a lot of competition that weekend. Box Office Mojo pro .. is predicting if Butler action fans show up a high of $15 million opening weekend and a total box office domestically of $35 million, I sure hope it does better than that.. and hopefully international box office will push it past its budget of $50 million. Tough releasing movies after COVID audiences are still slow to return for movies that aren’t comic book franchises or horror films.

I would love to see Gerry invited to a entertainment late night show and the cast doing a press junket together all over the U.S and different networks day talk shows like they did for Den of Thieves. They even did a show on Spanish TV morning talk show for Den of thieves. Gerry needs to do a lot of pr on radio shows also. Lets Go Gerry! Get out there as much as you can.

Tara Westwood posted on twitter about the Plane with Tony Goldwyn. So, some of the costars for it will be posting stuff too it looks like to promote it. I think this will have a more popular comment about it. I think these costars are more professional than some of the recent ones Gerry dealt with.

I wonder if it will be only a promotion for US with a premiere in LA.

I wonder if it will be only a promotion for US with a premiere in LA. Since the Director Jean-François Richet is French, I was thinking they could have a premiere in France when it opens on January 25th.

I doubt it. They should promote it in other countries if they want to be successful at the box office. For what I see, it's only promote in US probably because they think it's the market that count more.

I think the problem is that they moved up the release to January 13th and the remaining international countries are still holding their release on The original date of January 27th so you won’t see the same level of PR internationally until their release dates. If they do a big promotion— they could rely on news of its release success in the U.S. they will save money on it that way.
This also means there will not be any international box office numbers for weeks which will not be good for the the movie's box office totals opening weekend in the U.S. .. this was not a good move just to get that 3 day weekend in the U.S. To me it looks like Lionsgate is not expecting the movie to do well.

Maybe you are right, but I still think that they/he care/cares only about the US box office.
