So far Critics are giving good reviews for CopShop on Rotten Tomatoes- Variety, Hollywood Reporter, plus major city newspaper critics gave fresh ratings. with 52 reviews the movie has a 80%, but it looks this time the worry is that publicity for the movie is going to be the problem to get a good box office no buzz for the film has developed. 🤞crossing my fingers that the good reviews will give the movie a boost at the box office, people are getting used to both theater and VOD releases at the same time and without a VOD option this can be a major drawback.

I have seen the new trailer for Copshop three times this evening and they are only showing Gerry and Frank. It is a shorter version but still the same they are highlighting those two.

reviews are still being added at RT.. Alexis is definitely shining in the reviews.. But, I agreed 100% with this new review of Gerry in the film — “Gerard Butler never seems to get the credit he deserves, so let me state this unequivocally: Butler is a great actor who can make the most mundane works pop. He seems to love genre filmmaking, and those films – though not often stellar on their own – are always better for having him. Bob Viddick is a complicated man, but steadfast in his occupational goals. Butler brings this routine character, one we have all seen a billion times in films before, vividly to life while also entrenching a tinge of empathy along the way. In lesser hands, the film simply wouldn’t work.” preview here www.thehollywoodoutsider.com/copshop-film-review/

Glad to hear you liked the movie, I wish they secured a VOD contract, we are still cautious about indoor venues due to COVID.
I still find it hard to believe it can’t find an audience with all of the good reviews it’s getting. Marketing or I mean lack of it, definitely has to be blamed. I think that Marvel movie and a PG13 rating will continue to win the box office. In 2 weeks Bond will be dominating the box office followed by the movie Dune. So it looks like that estimate of a total box office for CopShop will be lucky to make $10 million if buzz doesn’t start ASAP.

Variety article on the failure at the box office for both CopShop and Cry macho They feel that both movies were aiming at the same audience over 35 who are still not venturing to the movie theaters due to Covid delta variant surging still. They also said that the two movies cannibalized what audience there was. I just don’t get why the PR wasn’t marketed to the college age and the 25-35 year olds. I can see why Cry Macho would appeal to the over 35 year older audience. What a mess Covid is causing on Gerry’s career. Thankfully Greenland survived Covid to make a profit. variety.com/2021/film/news/box-office-shang-chi-clint-eastwood-cry-macho-flop-1235068096/amp/
