Am I the only one e wondering where Gerry is during this VOD release? He hasn’t done any new PR for this big release in the UK, Canada, & other foreign countries getting the VOD release. I have only seen interviews with the director and Morena that were current. I find this very odd. Hope he is ok.

I can't wait!! Yes, it is odd... not one interview in the UK? And It looks like the director is his stand in and I find this troubling, just not like Gerry to leave someone else to promote his films, especially one that has good reviews.. I hope he is ok. Elsa, glad to hear you will finally will get to watch Greenland..I think it is one of my favorite Gerry movies.

Had to post this review, mainly because why wouldn’t Gerry be doing PR in the UK with a review like this one from a top critic in the UK - no big spollers

Sonia at JJ said that Mark K. Giving it such a good review says a lot because he is usually very critical of Gerry. This movie shows Gerry's talent as an actor not just a shoot them up action star. Ric, brings that out in Gerry.

If covid would not have gotten in the way this film would have been as big as 300 at the box office. So happy for him. Even RT isn't dissing it.

Ironically, I do think the COVID shutdowns actually could have helped Greenland, originally the movie was scheduled to have a “sandwiched“ released between two blockbusters, being released the week after the new “Wonder Woman” movie and having “Tenet” released the week after Greenland. I think Greenland could have gotten lost in the big studio PR hype for those big films. Greenland I think got a closer look and got the positive reviews it deserves because of the Big studio lack of releases. I do think though, the film lost out on any hope for award considerations due to the lack of a U.S. release in theaters.

Fabulous news for Greenland profits for PVOD... For STX, ‘Greenland’ Is a Major PVOD Hit; for Exhibitors, It’s Yet Another Existential Threat Gerard Butler's unassuming lower-budget disaster movie proved that lots of people can be willing to spend $19.99 on a VOD premiere.Quotes.. Have you seen “Greenland”? It seems like almost everyone has: Released December 18 as a Premium VOD title with no domestic theatrical play, the $35 million STX Films title starring Gerard Butler as a father trying to help his family survive planet-destroying comets has ranked at or near the top of the VOD charts ever since. With good reviews and word of mouth, it spent more than eight weeks at $19.99 and finally became the standard-price $5.99 on February 16 — which saw it rebound on the charts once more. Whether they track by rentals or revenue, all roads seem to lead to “Greenland.” “Greenland” is not the only film to see this kind of long-term success. Universal’s “The Croods: A New Age” moved to PVOD after three weeks in theaters and has thrived ever since. However, that film also benefits from being part of an animated franchise in the content-hungry kids’ market. “Greenland,” which falls neatly into the disaster-movie genre, is that also rare and difficult property: the original screenplay..... ...... As with every other film last year, the pandemic forced STX to reconsider the “Greenland” domestic release date. Originally scheduled to open in theaters June 12, 2020, STX moved the date four times before announcing that it would debut as a PVOD title October 13. That date pushed once more before it landed on December 18. Chart placements aside, VOD financials are difficult to assess. However, evidence suggests that STX has already net $60 million-$80 million on the film’s $35 million budget. Through international partners, STX released “Greenland” overseas in late July and it grossed around $48 million. Based on standard deal terms, that likely netted over $20 million. In October, HBO acquired the film for its pay-TV network and HBO Max streaming in the U.S. in a massive deal reportedly in the range of $20 million-$30 million. Amazon Prime has the title in the U.K., Australia, and Canada. Finally, industry sources say “Greenland” has seen over 2 million rentals over its eight-week run as a $19.99 rental. Given a standard share of 80 percent, that would come to $32 million. Still to come are VOD results, DVD/BluRay sales, and longer-term library value.” Read the article article here.. www.indiewire.com/2021/02/stx-greenland-pvod-hit-exhibitors-existential-threat-1234617593/

If you haven't seen Greenland yet spectrum tv has it for rent for $6.99 for two day rental. I have watched it three times already just in case I missed something. It is so good and Gerry and Morena and the little boy are just wonderful in this movie. Gerry deserves all the accolades he is getting.
