Maybe because it is still opening in cinema's overseas. They don't want to stop that cash flow.

Noooooo 😭😭😭😭😭 I've been pouring over the streaming venues, watching for it to hit, getting so excited for tomorrow and now... I wait again haha I'm sure they have their reasons and its tied to financial ones. In these times, think the norm and expect the opposite. So taking a breath and waiting patiently for Dec 18. It will absolutely be worth the wait!
And thanks for the updates ladies!

It makes me wonder if Greenland should have been released Since Liam Neeson’s new film is being released this weekend. I read that it is going to “own” all of screens on IMAX and Dolby theaters now that Tenet is now out of the top spot. Greenland’s production budget was low enough and with the foreign box office meeting that cost already, the VOD and HBO deal could have been still achieved after a release in the U.S. darn 🦠!!

Box office Mojo is reporting this total for this weekend
All Releases DOMESTIC (–) – INTERNATIONAL (100%) $31,000,000 WORLDWIDE $31,000,000
Only 3 million needed to meet Production budget of $34 million, what is confusing STX reported that the move had already made $45 million 2 weeks ago so I estimate that the movie must have passed $50+million internationally.
edited to add Deadline Hollywood international box office report....
“STX’s Greenland was tops again in Italy where it has now grossed $1.5M while Spain held at No. 2 behind local thriller No Mataras. The overall weekend was $1.64M from 1,923 locations for an estimated international cume of $31M. The next major release is in Germany on October 29. This session was impacted by a new curfew in major French cities including Paris, and with cinemas in some of Central Europe shuttering again.“

terryann , how does the hbo sell factor in on the numbers? The HBO deal will not be added into box office totals..,unfortunately, it will always reflect a “0” for domestic box office since it was not released.. so it will be a loser for Gerry domestically as far as Career Box office viability. The HBO deal will be good for G-base and STX but it won’t be counted as box office. The streaming profits and future DVD, rental sales will be tabulated and be part of the films profit margins.

Well that bites 😖 they pay big bucks and it doesn't count towards the base line. But I'll do my part and buy in streaming and buy the dvd once those are available. still going to miss our man up on the big screen though 😭

Mixed reviews from Germany - this new one is 4 stars 😊 www.heldenchaos.de/greenland-mit-gerard-butler-heldenchaos-filmkritik/review conclusion comment: “Greenland is a disaster with a lot of thrills As mentioned, there is no fireworks display waiting for the viewer, as he knows it from films like 2012 & Co. Special effects are used occasionally. Due to the focus on the family and their challenge of making it to the bunker within the time limit, the film works extremely well. The impending catastrophe is omnipresent, but is not constantly brought to the eye by special effects. And if the CI bag of tricks is used, the results are definitely worth seeing - if not overly spectacular.” reviewer noted — “I didn't expect anything more than a solid disaster film from Greenland and was positively surprised. More of a nerve-wracking odyssey than the effective fall of the earth is the focus of the film. For me a real surprise hit that is exciting and entertaining until the last minute.
