daisyc is right, for me ... I never saw his father, nor his half-brother, but I think Gerry look a lot like him...also physically ... his sister and his brother look like his mother, but he did not so much ...

It is a movie-star smile, and it belongs to Gerard Butler's mother. Together with a few other members of the actor's family, including two of his aunts and Alex Coll, his stepfather, she is a guest of honour. As the evening progresses, she will take to the stage to make a speech, delivering an anecdote about how, even from a young age, her son had an eye for the women. ("As a baby he would crawl under ladies' skirts, " she says at one point, with a blush. ) Bewildered and beguiled, she is nonetheless thankful. "I didn't know whether to come tonight, " she tells the crowd. "I thought to myself, 'Gerry's fans won't be interested in his mother.' But he told me, 'Mum, they would.' And, as his mother, you have no idea what this does to me.
"Gerry's had issues and has had a hard time. His life still isn't that easy. It gets hard travelling about and never being based somewhere for long. But my son is a survivor. I can't tell you how highly he thinks of you and the love, encouragement and support you give him."

It looked like a very serene and peaceful place to live.
So he likes to listen to some Scottish music while sitting on the balcony. Nice!

what a lovely lady and those photos are stunning, i even got a bit home sick, because those mountains remind me of the italian Colli Prenestini, where I have family and I spent many beautiful summers running around the fields and scaring the poor cows! I can see why he got that ranch in Malibu, bless him, he must feel home sick too sometimes.

I have been wondering the same thing about him being homesick, Arkady. Seeing him at the English pub in Santa Monica and drinking Irn Bru with his friends and then his birthday party surrounded with more friends of old. No birthday celebration at home with family. Wondering too if he will make it home for Christmas and if he does, chances are it will be short with the filming going on [guessing]. Nothing like being home, surrounded by the scents and atmosphere, family traditions and the warmth and love found there.
