Good 👏👏👏 Review from The Hollywood Reporter — www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-reviews/plane-gerard-butler-1235293390/ read the entire review opening quote below — Plane’ Review: Gerard Butler Genre Pic Gets the Job Done Mike Colter co-stars in this action thriller about an airline pilot desperately trying to protect his passengers from violent militants after a crash landing. “It’s a wonder that Gerard Butler is able to purchase any insurance. After all, bad things seem to happen to him, or at least his screen persona, all the time. Whether he’s playing a Secret Service agent or an Everyman, Butler can’t seem to avoid getting in more tight spots than anyone since Bruce Willis’ John McClane. In his newest film, Plane, Butler plays an airline pilot, so you can rest assured that his flight is not going to go smoothly. Fortunately for moviegoers, the veteran Scottish actor is an engaging, charismatic presence, and Plane is the sort of breathlessly paced suspenser that barely leaves a moment for audiences to stop suspending their disbelief. (I am Good reviews keep coming— ) edited to add another review. This time good review from LA times. 👏👏 Review: In ‘Plane,’ action star Gerard Butler once again sticks the landing www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/movies/story/2023-01-11/review-in-plane-action-star-gerard-butler-once-again-sticks-the-landing

Another good review B- www.indiewire.com/2023/01/plane-review-gerard-butler-1234798015/loved this quote- “Butler knows his strengths like the back of a bad guy’s broken neck, and he’s seldom flexed them better than he does here; he’s become one of 21st century Hollywood’s few bonafide movie stars by embracing the fact that he was so obviously born to be a late 20th century movie star, and it’s endearing to watch him inspire competent schlock that’s willing to match his sincerity punch-for-punch. “ Edited to add another review - Plane Review The year’s first big surprise. www.ign.com/articles/plane-review

Very disappointing Box office numbers - PLANE is projected to be #5 at the box office over the 4 day weekend for only $9.5 million. I was hoping for at least the $15 million Den of Thieves made when it was released and it did end up making $48 million domestically. as noted below the best PLANE can only hope to make only $36 million, if it has legs. From Deadline Hollow— “Fifth belongs to Lionsgate’s Plane which is looking at a $3M Friday, $9.5M 4-day, the latter within its expectation. The comp for the Gerard Butler title is Universal’s Ambulance which posted a 3-day of $8.7M. Plane is between $8.4M-$8.9M over 3 days. The last notable early winter meat and potato guy action film was pre-pandemic, Guy Ritche’s The Gentleman which opened to $10.6M and legged out in January 2020 to a 3.4 multiple from STX with $36.4M.” I don’t know why they moved the film off its original date of January 27th.. competition is not so crowded and Avatar would be loosing screens by then for sure. I hate to see the film flop at the box office domestically with the good reviews. Just isn’t fair..what kind of marketing does Lionsgate provide. I think the film will make it’s production money reported to be $50 million back internationally. I worry Gerry and his style of movies are loosing his box office appeal especially in the U.S. if that happens, he can see funding of his films dry up.

Gerry's movie was moved up because it will run about four weeks before it slows down and Lionsgate will start their push around mid to third week in February because then they will go all out for John Wick 4. March 23rd is JW4 release, and you know they will have that movie in the same put out like Avatar, multiply locations. They have to get Plane out of the way so there is no competition to Wick. The time they start the trailers will be around mid-February. They already have one that has been only seen online. Keanu's movies are just the same action type as Gerry's only Keanu has a huge fan base for the Wick movies, 4, and they are asking if there will be a fifth. Lionsgate knows Wick will be a box office hit and they are counting on Plane making back the cost of it being made and some extra. It is my take on the move to update Planes release. The one thing is Lionsgate at least has put money in ads and interviews for the movie that Gerry hasn't seen for a long time. He seems happy and at least is enjoying the atmosphere he has been missing. Even Seth said to him it's been a while. They thought Tom Hanks movies was going to do better than it has. So Plane just might surprise everyone.

Cinema score for PLANE is B+. Means film is recommended for people who like this type of film. Hope it is enough to get more buzz.
