I like that trailer, It shows the mood of the film more so maybe it will balanced audience expectations. I think people are expecting a full on exploding disaster film from the 1st trailer and this one shows the family drama. So hope audiences will like the film! I can’t wait to see it.

International box office numbers - article from Forbes www.forbes.com/sites/scottmendelson/2020/08/16/movies-box-office-weekend-harry-potter-interstellar-inception-chris-nolan-will-smith-gerard-butler/#15a16c8c2b78
quotes - Bad Boys for Life earned just $3.2 million in China while Inception earned $1.6 million in 37 territories as Greenland topped $4.5 million worldwide thus far
Finally, Gerard Butler’s Greenland, about a family struggling to stay together and survive as a potentially extinction-level comet hurtles toward Earth, earned topped the box office in nine new overseas territories this weekend, namely Taiwan, Singapore, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Switzerland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. France and Belgium continued to play equally strong with #2 holdovers in in their respective second and third weekends. The film earned $2.82 million from 1,063 locations and has now earned $4.55 million worldwide. Considering the whole “50% capacity and 75% showtimes” factor, this is a solid performance from one of our more reliable “B-movie” movie stars. Ric Roman Waugh’s Greenland, which is pretty solid, opens next weekend in Russia, Ukraine and the West Indies and it’ll debut domestically on September 25.

Looks like Greenland will start getting major competition starting on August 26th when Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet” starts its international rollout with a big release on August 28th in China and then on September 3rd in the U.S. I read that Warner Bros are demanding a large amount of screens In the U.S. all the way through October. Which I can understand since it’s production cost is estimated to be oVer $225 million. I hope there will be enough screens for Greenland since Wonder Woman will be released the week after its release the first weekend in October. This virus is destroying the box office, ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) I found this article very interesting regarding the demands by Warner Bros.for Tenet... www.indiewire.com/2020/08/tenet-tickets-on-sale-august-21-1234580302/

I’m glad that Gerry got a 2 week head start ahead of the Tenet Film in a few international regions, since Tenet opens next Wednesday in 80 markets and China. U.S. release is on September 3rd with early screenings next weekend. Greenland opens September 25th.

International box office for this past weekend from Deadline Hollywood quote “Elsewhere, STX’s Greenland notably released in Russia with a No. 1 start of $394K from 488 locations. That’s on par with Angel Has Fallen and 67% above London Has Fallen. Some regions in the market are still in lockdown or have limited capacities. The full weekend total overseas was $2.2M for an international cume of $7.8M. Holds were strong in France (-35%/$3.45M cume), Taiwan (-34%/ $1.97M) and Scandinavia where favorable weather provided a boost. Sweden went up 82% for a $321K cume, Denmark jumped 44% for $253K and Norway increased 24% for $258K to date.Starting this weekend the movie Tenet by Warner Bros is starting it’s international and domestic runs and I do not know which markets Greenland will be opening in addition Internationally and we know it opens domestically on September 25th. ![5274](http://www.allsmileys.com/files/smiley-central-communicate/5274.gif) That the movie gets enough of screens to push the box office internationally over 10 million before the movie opens domestically. The budget is $34 million so it will be hard to meet even that low budget due to the virus restrictions in the U.S.

In ternational box office: ‘Greenland’, ‘Unhinged’ soak up audiences; market braces for ‘Tenet’www.screendaily.com/news/international-box-office-greenland-unhinged-soak-up-audiences-market-braces-for-tenet/5152545.articleGerard Butler’s ‘Greenland’ opens top in Russia Gerard Butler’s action thriller Greenland added another $2.25m at the weekend, bringing the STX title’s international total so far to $7.9m. It opened in two new markets – Russia and West Indies – topping the chart in the former, with $408,000 from 488 cinemas. Greenland achieved a 35% market share in Russia for local distributor Top Film, ahead of fellow new opener Peninsula (Yeon Sang-ho’s sequel to Train To Busan) which had an 11% market share, and Tate Taylor’s Ava, starring Jessica Chastain as an assassin, with 10% market share. In box-office terms, France – where Metropolitan distributes – was once again the top territory for Greenland, adding $622,000 in its third week for a $3.45m total. Greenland has now passed the lifetime totals in France of Butler’s three …Has Fallen films, and also 2017’s Geostorm. Relatively rainy weekend weather across much of Scandinavia boosted cinemagoing, and Greenland’s box office rose in Sweden (by 69%), Denmark (+34%) and Norway (+25%). Cumulative totals in those markets are respectively $311,000, $260,000 and $259,000 for distributor AB Svensk. Another strong market is Taiwan, where Greenland stayed in the top spot in its second week of play, declining by 29% to $547,000, and a $2m total for local distributor CatchPlay. Ric Roman Waugh (Angel Has Fallen) directs the story of a family fighting for survival as a comet races to Earth. good news.. hopefully Tenet won’t suck the entire box office out of the international market for Greenland.

Greenland did not open in any new markets this past weekend, which is probably a good move because Tenet did suck up all of the theaters internationally. This box office info from Deadline Hollywood.
“In holdovers, STX’s Greenland added $1.3M from 1,470 locations for an estimated offsure cume of $10.2M. There were no new openings in the session”.

Article about international box office for Greenland with 2 more regions release scheduled noted www.screendaily.com/news/international-box-office-tenet-grows-global-market-as-rival-titles-flourish/5152725.articleQuote —Greenland holds in Russia, Belgium and Scandinavia While family films may have peacefully coexisted with Tenet in the marketplace, the same might not be expected for Gerard Butler action thriller Greenland, targeting the adult audience. Greenland did indeed suffer some notable drops: down 63% in Taiwan, for example. However, STX’s film also saw some strong holds, declining just 4% in Russia, with $369,000 in its second session, and a total after 10 days of $1.06m for local distributor Top Film. Belgium did even better percentage-wise, rising 11% from the previous weekend. After four weeks of play, Greenland has delivered $478,000 in the territory. Scandinavia was strong, with declines of 13% in Sweden, 12% in Denmark and 29% in Norway. After 17 days of play, Greenland has delivered $1.3m in the region for AB Svensk. International total for Greenland at the weekend was $1.4m, down from $2.25m the previous session. Cumulative total internationally is $10.3m. Next to open are Greece (September 10) and Vietnam (September 11). Ric Roman Waugh (Angel Has Fallen) directs the story of a family fighting for survival as a comet races to Earth.
