Looks like Den of Thieves is going to be the first movie filmed I think it is because that project has a director. I don't think there is a director yet for Hunter Killer. funny though that Gerry was working out with the rapper /actor Common because he is in Hunter KIller not DEn of Thieves. Maybe the news that he is filming two movies this summer is true.

I think I just found out why Den of Thieves may be filming before Hunter Killer - I posted this comment on the Hunter Killer forum also- It was announced that Gary Oldman got a new role playing Winston Churchill and production begins in July the same month slated for Hunter Killer - maybe they are pushing back Hunter Killer and Gerry is moving ahead with Den of Thieves this summer???

OK, this is not the best news - smiley-confused013 I hadn't realized that the scriptwriter and the director for Den of Thieves was the scriptwriter for London Has Fallen www.imdb.com/name/nm0345615/?ref_=tt_ov_wr#director Not sure what to think of the script for LHF since it wasn't very original due to it being a sequel but this will also be this writer's first directing job. Gerry needs his next few films to be a critical success and without a director with some critical success I am afraid it will be harder to achieve. I hope this guy surprises us with a sharp script like RnR.

Wonder why Gerry keeps using newbies as directors for his films, could it be to keep budget costs down?

Wonder why Gerry keeps using newbies as directors for his films, could it be to keep budget costs down? That is what I was thinking also, big name directors cost money - Antoine Fuqua was a executive producer in-addition to directing Olympus Has Fallen so he got two paychecks from the film. So I imagine someone new to directing would come at a lower cost to the production budget, but, I hope he gets lucky with his first time directors and they do a great job.. Nothing like having a film title include a prominent director though.

Yes, I noticed the same about that article no indication when the film will be in production but it is still good news that Gerry has secured a studio to produce the film.

Yea! Even though no news on filming, step one down... get the studio. See, man is always working. His vision isn't slowing great news in that alone

Domestically, Tooley will handle his projects on a case-by-case basis. For example, Den of Thieves, which has Gerard Butler attached to star, is set up at STX, while Hunter Killer, another Butler project, is with Millennium Films.

This is not good news Den of Thieves has been moved from having a "in-production" status on his IMDb back to projects that are under the status of "Projects in-development". www.imdb.com/title/tt1259528/?ref_=nm_dev_1 www.imdb.com/name/nm0124930/
Something has changed since the news all summer was that this movie as a go and distributor and filming news was announced (see articles above this post from June) I wonder what changed that I hope it is a different project.

Well just found the reason Den of Thieves is shelved and I hope this doesn't affect Hunter Killer because they were announced as being involved as producers at one point - Joe Nicholas Said To Be Stepping Down As Co-CEO Of Relativity Media As Company Goes Up For Sale
EXCLUSIVE: Joe Nicholas, Relativity Media’s financial backer from Chicago who helped the struggling company out of bankruptcy by pumping millions into it, is said to have stepped down as its co-CEO. A person close to the company said the change happened on Friday; we will update with more information as we receive it. Nicholas shared the title with Ryan Kavanaugh, the long embattled executive who has been struggling to keep the company on its feet. Neither Nicholas nor Kavanaugh returned calls/correspondence.
Word of the corporate change comes as Kavanaugh has decided to try to sell the company which has been circling the drain after suffering through two failed films and an exodus of key executives. Kavanaugh has reportedly hired EMP and Zolfo Cooper to help him try to unload it.
Relativity emerged out of bankruptcy in April, hopeful to get back in the game financially but they have not made any significant inroads: They launched two films since that time — The Disappointments Room which opened to only $1.4M on roughly a $15M budget and Masterminds which collected a mere $6.6M this weekend after many stops and starts on the release schedule. Relativity was unable to open Masterminds despite its strong cast of Zach Galifianakis, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Jason Sudeikis and Owen Wilson. The company previously told the bankruptcy court that it anticipated $125.4M in lifetime revenues from the film against $78,346 in distribution costs.
The company has two more movies on its release schedule this year — Kidnap with Halle Berry and Before I Wake starring Kate Bosworth.
As of late, Relativity has been trying to make its debt payments schedule, but has been struggling to do so. Whether Kavanaugh will be able to unload Relativity is questionable; it does have the Netflix deal, which is considered the one major asset.
Nicholas is founder and chairman of HFR Group LLC, a Chicago company that analyzes hedge fund.
