Kandahar

Looks like Kandahar is going to be battling to get audiences attention since this movie looks like it’s a similar storyline.  Kandahar has to sell the CIA agent extraction more than the Afghan translator extraction otherwise the movie can be seen as I already watched that film that is what happened to White House Down when Olympus has Fallen was released first.

I think cast members may not be happy with that poster… I read a comment calling attention to the poster by Ali Fazal today and the fact “he is the guy on the motorcycle coming from under Gerard Butler’s crouch.”  Also, Navid Negahban, made up his own movie poster with Gerry which is more like the movie photo with them together.. and he noted that this was his own poster he made up on his Twitter account.  I don’t know why he didn’t include Navid Negahban since he is with him for the entire film it seems.   It is so unlike Gerry to not include major  co-stars on his movie’s posters.

I can’t but wonder if Kandahar’s poster could end up looking too similar like Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant’s movie poster and they are trying to distant the plot similarities so people do not think they would be seeing the same film.  There is a difference Covenant is a solider rescuing a translator from Kandahar who saved his life and Gerry’s Kandahar is —
“An undercover CIA operative gets stuck in hostile territory in Afghanistan after his mission is exposed. Accompanied by his translator, he must fight enemy combatants as he tries to reach an extraction point in Kandahar.”


Maybe they will develop a final poster closer to the release which will include

Wow, it is amazing how packed movie release schedules are every weekend since the theaters opened up last Fall…the week before Kandahar on May 19th Fast X is being released wide. And the list of limited releases are crazy,  checking out the schedule I think Kandahar is probably aiming for the numbers PLANE had because it is going to be impossible to push numbers up with that crowded schedule.  It is great that Kandahar will have a 4 day release since Memorable Day is May 29th since that make the difference competing with FastX release the weekend before. 😊🤞

Well, I am not sure why, because Kandahar doesn’t look like a throwaway film so I am trying to figure out why they decided to release it a week after Fast X was released.. from the Hollywood Reporter, Vin Diesel and cast was at Cinemacon promoting their film..   www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/fast-x-vin-diesel-star-power-cinemacon-1235403259/ look at those box office earnings for F9..

Sorry, but this is screaming another CopShop flop at the box office.so strange…
