STX Entertainment CEO Robert Simonds issued a memo to STX staff saying that the company would be making a donation to the ACLU of Georgia and that the company would reassess filming future projects in the state should the law go into effect.

“As many of you know, when Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed the HB 481 “fetal heartbeat” bill into law on May 7th, STX was in pre-production on the film Greenland in Atlanta, GA. While the bill has not yet come into effect, we do not believe it represents the will of the people in Georgia,” Simonds said in a memo obtained by TheWrap. “After thoughtful consideration about how best to move forward, we feel that relocating production would penalize the hundreds of talented crew members who would abruptly be out of jobs. In an effort to aid those on the ground fighting to reverse this legislation, STX will be making a donation to the ACLU of Georgia. Should HB 481 ever officially come into effect, we will reassess filming any future projects in the state.”

The thriller “Greenland,” from director Ric Roman Waugh and star Gerard Butler, was in pre-production in Atlanta earlier in the month.”

I noticed the article noted that the film WAS in pre production earlier in the month I hope it is still moving forward

Great news..but now we need some actors announced to fit in those costume designs!

She is a good actress, I saw her in Deadpool and Gotham. In Gotham she worked with her husband.

STX was at a international comic con and Gerry did a video promoting Greenland

"Also appearing in a taped message was Gerard Butler as he heads off to shoot Greenland, the disaster thriller that Ric Roman Waugh is directing. Butler starts filming next week what he said would be an “epic, exciting and emotional” ride."

How can you piece meal a movie.  So far he is the only cast member.  Why does Gerry's  movies always have some sort of drama.  I would think delays in getting the cast together would be costly.  I hope this doesn't  turn into a fiasco for him.  I know it was stated that the film donated money to the abortion rights supporters because of the law passed.  

They said the donation was their way of not laying off the the crew that was hired for preproduction. They didn't want them to lose their jobs. I am pro-life but I don't feel I have the right to tell another woman what is right for her. It has to be a very hard decision to make without all the condemnation. I just hope he doesn't have to carry the burden on his shoulders because of the law and the continuing of filming there. The people know they can vote these archaic people out of office.
