Looking into the who & when of this film I noticed something very interesting -
- The director of the film is a first time director Headhunter's Calling will be his first film Mark Williams
- Mark Williams is producing a new film by Ben Affleck called The Accountant
- both Headhunters Calling & The Account screenplays are written by Bill Dubuque
The Account is being released on October 14, 2016 - no release date yet for Headhunters Calling.
What bothers me about this situation is what movie by this award winning writer will get the biggest push - I think the answer it is going to be The Accountant. So were will that leave Headhunters Calling for a release in 2016?
This starting to remind me of Geostorm, the Dean Devlin,director is also producing Independence Day 2 - Geostorm is completed and just sitting there still waiting for a release date in 2017 and Independence Day gets filmed and is fast tracked for a release this Summer.
Film submissions for the 41st annual Toronto International Film Festival, running from September 8-18, 2016, are now open. The deadline for submission is May 6. The late submission deadline is June 3. So we should know soon if both films are scheduled for TIFF or just one of them?

Don't they need the bigger film to be a success first in order to cover any losses of the smaller release? I know last year Universal had it huge huge huge with Jurassic World and ran away with the year's numbers in only the first half of the year. But in the last quarter they had two or three films that under performed and were able to just write off because they raked in the billions with a B.
Fall Festivals would be good. There is one called Fantastic Fest in Texas I think that does more SFF movies. I can't think of when it is though. I know last year Crimson Peak did very well in a screening there for a horror based audiences only to have it mismarketed by Universal and do poorly in mainstream cinema release.

Could still be a festival or limited late 2016 release and then wide release in 2017? Although aren't we entering into packed Marvel/DC/Star Wars releasing if they wait that long?

Just saw this review for the trailer for the film The Accountant - looks like it could be a hit for the screenwriter of Headhunter's calling- I am pretty sure now that Gerry's movie won't be released this year. Screenings still happening even if the release moves to 2017? So are they looking for audience feedback and potential changes or editing? Did they receive some negative audience feedback and that is why it was pushed back or was it moved only for strategy purposes?
