www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2842837/Gerard-Butler-gulps-Irn-Bru-soaks-sunshine-Los-Angeles.htmlYou can take the boy out of Scotland! Gerard Butler gulps down an Irn Bru as he soaks up the sunshine in Los Angeles
He may be a Hollywood superstar who can command multi-million pound paycheques but Gerard Butler is in no danger of forgetting his Scottish roots. The handsome 45-year-old actor visited Ye Old Kings Head pub in Los Angeles on Wednesday to watch his national football team lose to England and consoled himself afterwards with an Irn Bru. Despite Scotland's loss, Gerard couldn't have looked happier as he downed the famed fizzy soft drink, which after Scotch whisky, is often dubbed Scotland's national drink. Gerard, who was born in Paisley in Renfrewshire is a proud Scotsman and never misses an opportunity to wax lyrical about his native country. Speaking about his home recently, he told the Scottish Daily record, 'Ah yes, it’s the most unique place in the world. The people, the geography, the spirit – it’s Scotland!' And he admitted that while living in Los Angeles is great, he does get homesick. He said: 'In this job - and I am not complaining in any way - there is lots of moving around and not a lot of spare time to maintain the ties and closeness you have to your family and close friends. 'It can be tough, but it makes the time we do get together back in Scotland all the more special. I like to spend my birthday back home with my family, and it is always a beautiful thing for me.' Speaking about the referendum for Scottish independence, which was rejected, Gerard told the Daily Mirror newspaper: 'I can't see any reason why Scotland shouldn't be independent. It's a different country with different attitudes, people and outlook, so why not?' Meanwhile, the notorious lothario appears to have finally settled down and is currently dating Morgan Brown. It was recently revealed that Gerard’s mystery lady is interior designer Morgan Brown following months of speculation into her identity. The successful business woman was once a model before moving into property and interior designing in her 20s. Morgan’s mother, Karen Brown, also enjoyed a successful modelling career and had a child with legendary actor Peter O’Toole.

Brilliant! smiley-bounce022 I'm sure the Marketing department at Barr's will be loving this and it will guarantee GB a lifetime supply! Very funny. Actually, I'm surprised the DM used this photo. And I wish they hadn't of cropped out TC, surely he deserves a mention too.

He looks good but different. Something different in the face. Btw what's In-Bru. smiley-confused013 Irn Bru (Iron Brew) is a Scottish soft drink which claims to be "made in Scotland from girders." and is also known as "our other National Drink" after whisky. It outsells Coca Cola and indeed Scotland is said to be the only country in the world where Coca Cola is not the top selling soft drink. It's a very popular drink on it's own but is also used as as a mixer with alcoholic drinks, mainly vodka. It's very popular with people who have been out on the town and have a "drouth" which is the thirst people have after a night of drinking. Many with a drouth will mix it with ice cream and this is supposed to be great way of getting rid of the drouth. smiley-excited002

I came across this on the Wikipedia article about Irn Bru: "Norway[edit] Irn-Bru entered the Norwegian market in May 2008. They had to withdraw from the market again in 2009 as a result of problems with production agreements and lack of funding for proper marketing efforts, and Irn-Bru can not be bought in Norway as of February 2010. They were believed to be sponsoring the Adeccoligaclub Mjøndalen IF in 2009. This later turned out to be fraud carried out by a third party company, and Mjøndalen IF never received any sponsorship from Irn-Bru, even though the team played the 2009 season with Irn-Bru marketing on their shirts.[22]" Don't know how true this is though. Apparently it's available in Denmark and Finland.
