The film is directed by Wayne Blair (The Sapphires) and stars Salma Hayek, Adrien Brody and Shoreh Aghdashloo. Gerry is one of the producers, he isn't acting in it. He's going to be in Bulgaria on 20th March as he's been invited to a music venue there... Maybe he'll be in Sofia for SOS, rather than LHF? It's supposed to be released this year isn't it?

Septembers of Shiraz is being sold at Cannes according to this article in Variety: Cannes Buzz Titles: What’s Hot at This Year’s Market variety.com/2015/film/news/cannes-buzz-titles-hot-films-2015-market-1201491070/Scroll down the article - The poster for the movie is included in the article: “The Septembers of Shiraz” Director: Wayne Blair Producers: Heidi Jo Markel, Alan Siegel, Gerry Butler, Les WeldonKey cast: Salma Hayek, Adrien Brody, Shohreh Aghdashloo A thriller based on the New York Times bestseller. Sales: Nu Image I can't help wonder why they used Gerry Butler in that story instead of Gerard Butler?? that was not right! Editing to note that Deadline Hollywood did not include Septembers of Shiraz as one of the movies being "talked up" and a hot title at Cannes in their article, but I think Variety is a better source for what is got the buzz at Cannes deadline.com/2015/05/cannes-2015-overview-hot-titles-1201425993/

He called himself Gerry in the BOSS Hamburg video, when inviting people down to meet him, and also in one of the Dubai videos.

I know that Gerry never calls himself Gerard - but It is odd that Variety wouldn't have been more formal when listing Gerry's name as a producer - he doesn't go by Gerry Butler when he stars in any of his films. And in all past projects as a producer they use his professional name Gerard Butler. All I can think of is the person writing the article must know Gerry on a personal level to use "Gerry".

Variety article today: includes September of Shiraz - one of 28 noted.
Noting that this time Variety used Gerard Butler instead of Gerry Butler.

Well my enthusiasm for Septembers of Shiraz being at Toronto Film festival has been squashed as I read the articles about the "award contenders in the line-up" - it seems like there is NO buzz for the Septembers in any of the articles not even a mention. It looks like the film may have the same fate as MGP. Edited to note that I just saw this Entertainment Weekly article about the Film Festival and look what is listed under-- GALAS smiley-gen013Septembers of Shiraz dir. Wayne Blair, USA, World Premiere A thriller based on the New York Times bestseller, this is the true story of a secular Jewish family caught in the 1979 Iranian revolution and their heroic journey to overcome and ultimately escape from the deadly tyranny that swept their country and threatened to extinguish their lives at every turn. Starring Salma Hayek and Adrien Brody. www.ew.com/article/2015/07/28/toronto-film-festival-2015-slate Gala also noted in Variety variety.com/2015/film/festivals/toronto-film-festival-to-open-with-jake-gyllenhaals-demolition-lineup-includes-martian-danish-girl-1201549796/

This is exactly the vibe I have been getting from all of the articles on Septembers of Shiraz, no one is particular interested in the film right now. I sure hope the film delivers. Not to get political but I think the politics right may cause the same type of controversy that 300 did. Timing is everything when you do political movies unfortunately. I guess we wait and see what happens, good performances will make the difference also.

I presume that you refer on this part of the article: "Otherwise the just-announced Toronto galas and special presentations that nobody is particularly interested in (at least for the time being) are as follows:" I read a comment under the article and I agree with that guy: "You're talking about awards bloggers, right? Because there are obviously hundreds or thousands of TIFF attendees who will be very happy to see new films by most of the filmmakers cited here." I'm happy that SOS will be on TIFF and I'm looking forward to see Gerry in role of the producer...........
