Not sure why but there has been no estimated box office numbers for DOT as usual for Friday and the entire weekend. I think it is the only film that has not estimated its box office for Friday & the weekend. It makes me wonder if the film did not move forward with a release this weekend - it was only slated for 700 screens. I guess we wait until Tuesday for the actual numbers since Monday is a Holiday. We we might see international numbers but I am not sure it was released in any new regions due to the Black Panther. I checked for it in my area and it was pulled. There was only one cinema and one time at 9:40 at night. Even the small screen cinema wasn't showing it. It went from #8 to no show starting times. So it looks like the international is the only money we will see for it.

I just checked again and three cinemas have only one showing at night for it. It sounds like it is the last show of the evening. With work the next day and the movie running long it doesn't look like it will be around to much longer here. BP is getting all the shows so far. 700 cinemas over the whole US and all the new movies that are out pushed it back. I wonder if they will have some numbers by tomorrow.

Another big drop of screens for Den of Theives, from Box Office Mojo Den of Thieves STX Entertainment 357 theaters -373 -51.1% drop from last week. i think the movie could make it to $44 million domestically, it stands at $43.8 as of today, but it will be tough to make another $200,000 with that low of theaters. Congratulations to Gerry and the entire DOT cast for a great run domestically 2uge4p4 Unfortunately the international release looks to be in not as good shape due to The Black Panther huge success and the DOT is opening this weekend in s number of larger regions. I am hoping it can get to at least $30 million internationally since it is at $15 million presently.

Screen Daily reported yesterday this on box office for DOT internationally
"STX Entertainment’s Den Of Thieves opens in eight more territories this weekend after reaching an international tally of $20.9m up to and including Thursday. The crime drama with Gerard Butler hit France on Wednesday and moves into Mexico on Friday. "
It is Too bad bad the Black Panther is eating up the International market right now, bad timing for DOT release in the international market which is usually Gerry's stronger box office draw., oh well here's hoping the film will find enough.
Edited to note - Box office mojo has not posted that $20.9 figure yet so that does bring the film to approx. $65 million worldwide.

Well if it was $30 million to make, it has more than doubled. Good news. I wouldn't be surprised if it goes over $100 million with pay for view and dvd sales. Finally a movie that made more than it cost in the US market.

whatculture.com/film/12-awesome-performances-that-saved-underwhelming-films12 Awesome Performances That Saved Underwhelming Films
12. Gerard Butler - Den Of Thieves
From its trailer with an awesome Kendrick Lamar soundtrack, Den of Thieves looked like a generic but enjoyable action thriller. The initial perception was only half true. The film is generic, but it's also not very enjoyable. It's soulless, overlong and, until the action finally kicks off in the last third, pretty dull. However, the film is kept watchable by Gerard Butler who plays the crooked cop trying to catch the thieves with a wonderfully bad-ass demeanor, while also showing pathos from time to time. He's easily the most interesting character in the movie - as well as the only one who feels like a character and not a prop - and he gives the film its much-needed emotional depth. Luckily, Butler's ability to do an American accent seems to have improved as well. It's a shame that Gerard Butler is stuck in the Hollywood dog-house, because although he makes mostly terrible films he's actually not bad at all. Den of Thieves is a reminder that he's better than everyone thinks he is, and he brings the same mixture of macho masculinity and humanism that he performed with Leonidas in 300. Thanks to Gerard Butler, Den of Thieves manages to stay just above a two-star rating.

According to Box office mojo DOT theater count is getting smaller - this weekend. "Den of Thieves STX Entertainment -- theater count 269 -down another -88 screens from last weekend." I was hoping for the film to make it to $45 million but not sure it will get there but it will be close!

According to Box Office Mojo estimated totals as of this weekend March 4th for domestic and foreign
Den of Thieves
Total Lifetime Grosses Domestic: $44,680,327 63.4% + Foreign: $25,800,000 36.6% = Worldwide: $70,480,327 Forrign totals are still low for a Gerry movie, I guess timing is everything and too many big releases are out there internationally to compete with this smaller distribution group I think.

Industry Magazine has an article pm DOT, it is pretty much everything we already heard. The one thing I found interesting is Gerry was given the script and at first he didn't want to read it. Then when he did he was convinced it was something he wanted to do.

Do you ladies think Meadow will be in DOT 2. She was a producer in the first one. Do you think she will be attached by producing for the sequel?

Deadline has an article about the financing of DOT2 and it is very interesting. They Styx and Movio did a great job knowing how to promote DOT and the audience they were going after. It is an interesting read.
