Wow.. this is crazy if true the caption on the extra interview notes extratv 472K subscribers SUBSCRIBE “Extra’s” Rachel Lindsay caught up with “Greenland” stars Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin to talk about the apocalyptic thriller and what the hope viewers will take away. “Greenland” is available on digital today!
What the heck is going on — you need to promote a major digital release — dvd releases get more promo than this!!! edited to note that I checked on my Xfinity cable Movie Premiere “Movies from Theaters Straight to You“ and Greenland is not listed. Does anyone else see it on there service providers? I checked twitter and there is a site named Watch 123 providing link to watch the movie free on line— what’s up with that also.

Well that will bite if true! But i haven't found anything on digital release yet. So hope that's not the case! 😟 I had a feeling that they were going to release the film on demand and skip a theater release in the U.S. But, I thought they may have been getting a release in Canada next weekend which usually is part of a U.S. release and that was the reason for the PR from ET Canada. That digital release is concerning, if you do a twitter search for Gerry or Greenlandmovie there are now links to watch the movie on line sites. I didn’t want to click on those links in case I get linked to a pirated site. This is feeling like a Family Man release misfire but now because of the pandemic.

www.berliner-kurier.de/show/die-corona-krise-hat-uns-gezeigt-wie-verletzlich-die-menschheit-ist-li.106762.ampGerard Butler in the KURIER interview : "The Corona crisis has shown us how vulnerable humanity is" The Hollywood star speaks to the courier about the separation from girlfriend Morgan Brown, the corona pandemic and his new film Greenland. 09/22/20, 2:40 p.m. | From Dierk Sindermann He's Hollywood's sun boy. Always friendly, always optimistic, always ready for a friendly small talk. During the video interview for his film “Greenland”, a rather reserved, profound Gerard Butler sits in front of the camera in the study of his Hollywood home. The Corona times also leave traces on a screen hero. Butler: Right now I've been going through the end of a relationship (with long-term girlfriend Morgan Brown). In a way, I lost a loved one too. It was hard, harder than I thought. And in the middle of it I got sick myself. KURIER: A black series ... ... which started 3 years ago. An operation that went wrong that turned into 7 operations. A motorcycle accident that almost cost me my life. The reality is scary. A few people around me got sick, two died. Do you go into yourself there? I was at a point where I was rethinking my entire career. I like to be the hero, but I feel that there has to be something more. That's what I'm looking for. Just take a look … That sounds kind of pessimistic. Usually I'm a real optimist by nature. But in the end I always had the tendency to paint the devil on the wall. Always imagining the worst possible scenarios that could happen. It also had to do with a lack of self-confidence. The pandemic made everything even worse. Still, I won't let myself be chased into the buckhorn. I've had to master some tough life situations before! For example? I was in New York during the 9/11 terrorist attack. I've been through bombings seven times in London and our house burned down in the Malibu fires. But do you know what I've gained from all these dire situations and challenges? My fighting spirit! So you can always draw positive sides from the worst events. What positive aspects do you draw from the corona pandemic? I think it made it clear to all of us how vulnerable humanity is. Be it by a tiny virus or by a natural disaster. The best thing to do about it is stick together. Many have realized that we are in the same boat and that mutual hatred is of no use. I used the pandemic to be with friends and family as much as possible. Because I don't have much time for that when I'm making films and then on a PR tour. I even managed to finally learn to play tennis. In "Greenland" the earth is on the verge of total destruction by a comet. How would you react if you knew you only had a few days to live? I would come to terms with my fate and just go out into nature. To be in the woods, in the mountains or by a river has something very calming for me. It takes away my fear of death because I realize out there that I am a part of this powerful whole. In your films you always show leadership qualities and find ways out of seemingly hopeless situations. What about your own skills as a leader? I think I already have leadership skills in certain areas. And sometimes that gets a little too much for me, because it also means taking on a lot of responsibility. For example, I have to pay attention to what I say and how, because my words could have an impact on others in society. Which quality is most important to you? To be a man who keeps his word and who treats others with respect and kindness. What do you tend not to like about yourself? That I am like a tearful baby at times and can fall into fear and panic. Until I remind myself that I'm just a person who makes mistakes like everyone else. I just have to be nicer to myself. If you play a lot of very intense roles like you, how difficult is it to find yourself after filming is over? Very difficult! I often need two to three weeks to get back to normal life. It's like a move and a divorce rolled into one every time. You often have a deep connection with the people on set - and suddenly they are no longer in your life. And then you are no longer the hero you just played. This can make you a little depressed. And how do you overcome such emotional lows? It takes a lot of self-discipline. I have to do some kind of spiritual cleansing so that I can get all the elements of my character out of me. In the future I will think carefully about how roles can affect my soul. And then choose them.

Thanks Elsa for that Insightful interview,.WOW he sure opened up ..now we know the break-up is legit and it is kinda scary To learn about getting sick, not sure if he meant the virus or was talking about his injuries and the number of surgeries he had to have. He did say a few friends died from the virus I wonder it was Ariel’s parents who I understand died from the virus in Israel.
I did notice in the ETcanada interview that he seemed to be very low keyed when talking about Greenland. I think he is truly concerned about people getting sick going to see his film.
i do hope he doesn’t switched Completely to being a baddie in films instead of the hero, It just wouldn’t fit this man’s charisma.

I think he was rethinking his career because it's hard to play a hero with all his injuries. I'm concerned about his illness, he didn't say if it was the virus or something else. I don't know if for you is the same, I think it's a sad interview, I've never felt him like this before.

I think this virus snapped Gerry out of his stagnate existance. The relationship that turned into a habit and we all know how hard it is to break bad habits. He realized what they had was not a love that had a solid foundation. He doubted himself in his career abilities. The accident and health issues. The hanger ons who saw him atruggling but weren't really there for him. You can see why he has stepped up his work schedule because that is where he got his confidence back. He is seeing his fans are still there for him. He must have felt the world was closing in on him. The fire, health issues, the accident and a relationship that didn't grow over time and career doubts. He cleaned house and remembered his Scottish will power who saw him through tough times before and knows that spirit will bring him back. Once he starts filming next month for copshop things will fall into place again. I don't think we will hear I'm taking time off again for a long time.

I agree this was a sad interview and the author noticed it - I think everyone saw it in that ETCanada interview also. As the author noted— “He's Hollywood's sun boy. Always friendly, always optimistic, always ready for a friendly small talk. During the video interview for his film “Greenland”, a rather reserved, profound Gerard Butler sits in front of the camera in the study of his Hollywood home. The Corona times also leave traces on a screen hero.“ I worry about his health also, this virus is impacting so many lives - and in the entertainment business it feels like it will never come back for those involved in new film releases and potentially careers could be damaged and will take very long to recover. I hope his new film will get to start,, the fear of a resurgence of the virus like they are having overseas this week could cause delays.
🙏 the world needs more prayers everyone is in distress I fear.

Wow! Excellent telling interview, he guided his words but opened up very personal. Im glad he did, reinforces his take that he's just a man, just like the rest of us. Nothing pretentious in the whole piece, endearing to us even more if that's possible 😊 and I hope 'sick' isn't detrimental 🥺 this world is so much brighter with him in it 😊 Couldn't agree more lolita and terryann, very nice take on the interview. Thanks!

I have been seeing more reviews for Greenland and I can’t help but wonder if the response to the film could be the cause for his sad and introspective state of mind. It must be so disheartening to see his films get ceremoniously low reviews— I saw one foreign Critic complain how can he write a review On Greenland when there was only one review on Rotten Tomatoes. I swear so called critics just gang review on RT they don’t think for themselves they follow the major critics only. I remember that ambush feature in the UK when he promoted Olympus Has Fallen he was taunted by that entertainment writer and he ended up with that same defeatist tone like in that new German article . ☹️😢. I hope fans like the film and the box office will cover the production cost. He must really feel unlucky 😢I found the link to that Olympus Has Fallen article I will post it in Discuss Gerry forum if you want to read it.

I hope the movie will be able to pull in larger box office totals Internationally now that Tenet has been out for a month now. I can’t wait to see the movie, but I won’t be able to see it in a theater will have to wait for VOD or the blu-ray release

I am watching the science channel and they are talking about Greenland. They have winter 8 months out of the year. So much of the land is covered by glacier ice. During ww2 America flew planes with a stop over in Greenland. The planes were being delivered to our allies. The only thing so many never made it off Greenland. They have found a plane graveyard there. They call it the Greenland Bermuda triangle because they have no idea what caused the 30 planes to be lost there. They think blizzards downed the planes because the technology then was so limited. The pilots had to land because they had no other choice. I never knew Greenland had such a hostile environment. It will be interesting how the movie makes it look. I told you I am a nerd.
