Digital roll outs before limited cinema release have worked for some indies but I just need to know when and where already. July 28 it probably won't be at a theater near me.

I was looking for this on Amazon but didn't see a listing yet. Sometimes they have a pre-release alert add to list but all it was showing for that old Family Man Nicholas Cage movie wtf. Re positive and negative tweets, I think they are changing cinema going a bit. If there is a review embargo where reviews can't be released until a certain date usually two or three days before a release, critics will still post their 140 thoughts on twitter. It can kind of change the gage of the public opinion nonetheless. A lot of positive tweets were all over the place for Batman vs Superman and Suicide Suad, but then all the reviews and the movies turned out to be bad. Wonder Woman was kind of the opposite, there wasn't a lot of actually critic buzz until right before, with a lot of I hope it is good and support women in film rather than an actual critique on the picture. Either way, twitter and social media still sways the audience opinion either prematurely or one extreme or the other en masse with no real inbetween. This is why GB/MB being known for tabloid fodder and gossip rags is an interference in the film opinion. You go to look it up on twitter and instead of getting that black and white and yes or no one line critiscm be it good or bad, you get all those robot retweets of JJ, Gossip Cop, Daily Fail and the like all cluttering the feed. So even if the public is looking for the movie, they aren't going to find it, just spot a few tabloid links and then movie along thinking the movie must be unimportant or not good because its news is not priority. Like shooting oneself in the foot! But I digress.  |
