What Is the Best Animated Movie of 2014?Animated movies came in like a wrecking ball this year. The Lego Movie made us laugh and cry, How to Train Your Dragon 2 proved sequels can be even better than the original, and Big Hero 6 introduced us to an amazing new world. We got to hear Will Arnett in The Nut Job, Channing Tatum in The Book of Life, and Benedict Cumberbatch in Penguins of Madagascar. Out of all the colorful, adventurous, animated films that came out this year, which one do you think is the best? www.popsugar.com/entertainment/Best-Animated-Movies-2014-36211024(you can vote on the site!)

Just saw Dragon 2 was nominated for Best Animated Featured by the Online Film Critics Society. Now is the time of year for a lot of nomination announcement and everybody and their grandma's critic societies to list their favorites.

I wonder if Gerry might be asked to do some voice work for the next dragon movie even though he was killed. You know like if Hiccup thinks of his father and what he might tell him in a certain situation. That would be so nice to hear his voice again in that part. Well off to bed have a good evening/day. If you look on IMDB he is listed YEA!!

Oscars: 4 Animated Movies That Could Make History
No animated film has ever been nominated for a best production design Oscar, but maybe that changes this year as Lego cities, "San Fransokyo" and dragon lairs breathe fire
Though no animated feature ever has been nominated for the best production design Oscar, there's nothing in the rule book to prevent that from happening. Animation filmmakers argue it's time that their production design teams get their due. After all, everything they create is built entirely from scratch.
___ ___ ___
How to Train Your Dragon 2
Given the movie's Scandinavian setting, production designer Pierre-Olivier Vincent wanted to give dramatic contrast to a hidden dragon sanctuary so that the audience could "come in from the cold -- it's a lush oasis and a microclimate with growing plants and running water," says Vincent. The computer-generated movie needed "to stay in the realm of reality," he says. "We wanted it to look exotic and lush but not go with a full-on jungle. So for the plants, we used ferns, because if you go to a cold location, you see some ferns. The main concept is the real world, and the element of fantasy is the dragons."

www.hollywoodreporter.com/race/nbr-awards-celebrate-a-violent-761492America Ferrara, one of the voice stars of How to Train Your Dragon 2, came out to present that film with the best animated film prize, which was accepted by producer Bonnie Arnold (whom Ferrara congratulated on her recent promotion to co-head of production at DreamWorks Animation) and writer-director Dean DeBlois. Arnold encouraged people who haven't yet seen the acclaimed film, "Go see it, it's really pretty good!"

I thought it was cute to see the cat that inspired, or was actually Toothless in action even though he had a ball tied to his tall to get those effects.
