Not sure how this news will affect the length of the theater release for PLANE in the U.S. — this seems awful fast, maybe the low box office opening has pushed up the streaming release option. But, The release internationally doesn’t even start until next weekend on January 27th, and I wonder how streaming options could keep those theater box office numbers down. Everything is upside down in this release.

It's weird and probably this is the reason why the only promotion was in US. I read that someone saw the movie in theaters in UK, I guess they changed the release date.

I think the real problem is that adult males who like R rated action movies have not returned to the cinema yet after COVID.. they wait for streaming, the PG-13 crowd are back to the cinema.
here is the list of the release schedule for PLANE
Indonesia 11 January 2023 Philippines 11 January 2023 Israel 12 January 2023 Mexico 12 January 2023 Portugal 12 January 2023 Uruguay 12 January 2023 Canada 13 January 2023 India 13 January 2023 Iceland 13 January 2023 USA 13 January 2023 Singapore 19 January 2023 Sweden 20 January 2023 Upcoming still…
France 25 January 2023 Taiwan 25 January 2023 United Arab Emirates 26 January 2023 Argentina 26 January 2023 Australia 26 January 2023 (internet) Brazil 26 January 2023 Denmark 26 January 2023 Egypt 26 January 2023 Hungary 26 January 2023 Italy 26 January 2023 Cambodia 26 January 2023 Netherlands 26 January 2023 Russia 26 January 2023 Thailand 26 January 2023 Ukraine 26 January 2023 UK 27 January 2023 Ireland 27 January 2023 Norway 27 January 2023 Turkey 27 January 2023 South Africa 27 January 2023 Germany 2 February 2023 Hong Kong 2 February 2023 Spain 10 February 2023 Lithuania 10 February 2023 Belgium 15 February 2023

Again, disappointing box office numbers for PLANE especially for Friday — 56% drop from opening day. Can’t believe that there seems to be zero interest in the film even with the good reviews and audience ratings - Gerry is starting to look like an actor who cannot not draw audiences Domestically- something is a miss, it looks likely that this film won’t even make it to $30 million domestically now. If you subtract 50% from this weekend on 5.3 next week will only have a $2.5 total. The film should have broke into the low $20’s in this second weekend. I guess we need to look for better box office internationally 🤞 6.) Plane (LG) 3,060 theaters (+37%), Fri $1.56M (-56%) 3-day $5.3M (-50%), Total $19.5M/Wk edited to note —. this is weird, the box office numbers for Friday reported above from Deadline Hollywood are not posted on Box Office Mojo or The Numbers. No total at all is listed… PLANE isn’t even listed… www.boxofficemojo.com/date/2023-01-20/?ref_=bo_hm_rdUsually the studio reports these numbers..so Lionsgate must not have provided them yet. I’ve only seen this happen when a film was winding down their run at theaters,so they just let the actual numbers post on the Monday after the weekend.

If it's going on streaming so soon, there is no way to get a good success in theaters.

What was that about a big event like that screening and Gerry did not attend? Not one cast member? Definitely weird, and not helpful for promotion.

It was a VIP screening, no one from the cast was attending. It's pointless and also the people invited are no one.

A nice review — 3.5 out of 4 stars observer.com/2023/01/plane-review-a-first-rate-action-thriller/agreed with this quote “Gerard Butler gets a rare chance to show his humane side playing Brodie, who’s not always been the best father in the past but is anxious to make up for lost time by getting home in time to start the New Year with his daughter. Mr. Buttler proves he needs to branch out more and act in more sensitive roles beyond the limitations of thriller flicks. Most of the characters are one-dimensional cyphers, but the actors are first-rate—especially Yoson An as the mild-mannered but keenly reliable and steadily non-plussed Hong Kong-based co-pilot and Mike Coltor as the juggernaut with the criminal past who turns out to have a heart. Nothing new here to anyone who has seen Nicolas Cage in Con Air, Stephen Segal in Under Siege, or Liam Neeson in just about anything, but Plane is so well made and vastly entertaining you won’t even think about glancing at your watch.

Box office was very low for Monday night I thought for sure it would break $20 million by today and it came up short..
6 (6) Plane Lionsgate $451,141 - total. $19,986,851 Looks like the film is going to get a theater cut next weekend, it just never secured an audience since it wasn’t able to own an opening weekend, the competition just killed any good buzz Plane got. It should have rebounded this past weekend but the sequel Missing got better reviews and had a built in audience. I don’t think the film will even make it to $25.million. Just sad.

Looks like everyone was waiting to January 27th to release their R rated movies.. Avatar is winding down so the competition of R rated films is starting..and going wide — lots of films competing for Plane’s R rated audiences —and they are all horror films except Distant which is a Steven Spielberg production a space, mystery.
January 27, 2023Theaters Life Upside Down Limited *Distant. Wide Close Limited *Fear. Wide The Man in the Basement. Limited *Infinity Pool. Wide Maybe I Do. Limited Blood. Limited

Some better news at the box office numbers.. International increased to 4.4 million 👍 Box Office Mojo as of 1/26 … www.boxofficemojo.com/releasegroup/gr3733869061/?ref_=bo_rl_suNew total as of 1/26. New Edit
Grosses DOMESTIC (82.5%) $21,112,299 INTERNATIONAL (17.5%) $4,467,960 WORLDWIDE $25,580,259
Hoping it can get to a total of $60 million minimum. Nice that the film has made over $3.8 million in Mexico😊👍

Unfortunately p, Plane’s theater count was cut by 210 sites from 3,060. It could have been worse, but it is a shame it didn’t get a larger release to start. Hopefully, some of the football fans will show up since no games on Saturday since the movie was release. Only Sunday games this weekend.
