Ok, I have been seeing information on a term called “buy out films” sold to China. It looks like Angel Has Fallen release in China could be considered a buy-out film which means the box office from this release will not go to the studios..the film would have been purchased from the studio for the release for a set amount. I guess maybe the amount of the box office will be reported. So I think this type of release would not entail PR by cast members. www.thebeijinger.com/blog/2019/12/28/look-2019-foreign-buyout-films-china-farewell-rescheduled-release

This today from Forbes ....Angel has fallen included... www.forbes.com/sites/scottmendelson/2020/12/31/alita-battle-angel-cats-stuber-maleficent-brightburn-underrated-movies-of-2019/#45cfcb0c2af3EDITOR'S PICK899 viewsDec 31, 2019, 11:15am ‘Alita,’ ‘Cats’ And The Most Underrated Movies Of 2019 Scott Mendelson Scott Mendelson Senior Contributor Hollywood & Entertainment Angel Has Fallen (Lionsgate) budget: $40 million worldwide box office: $141 million “The third time was the charm for this old-school action franchise. Originally conceived as “Die Hard in the White House,” the original Olympus Has Fallen as a surprise smash hit which both ushered in a new era of unabashedly R-rated studio programmers and outperformed the bigger, buzzier and PG-13 White House Down. That second “Die Hard in the White House” movie was better, so it’s ironic that London Has Fallen stole that film’s structure while Angel Has Fallen stole its politics. Trading Fox News-friendly xenophobia for a 1990’s-style “rich white dudes with a superiority complex are the real enemy” adventure, this third “Gerard Butler as Mike Banning” adventure offers thoughtful character development, a subtle examination of self-sacrificial masculinity and plenty of old-school action movie thrills. The Ric Roman Waugh-directed flick never reaches the highs of John Wick: Chapter 3 but nor does it wallow in the lows of Rambo: Last Blood . Angel Has Fallen is just a sold, well-made action movie. Bring on Moon Has Fallen!”hopefully the movie will do well in China it opens today.. not sure still of what kind of release this will be wide or limited

Cinemablend.com 10 Best Action movies of 2019 ranked (not the greatest review but still a acknowledgment of the film. www.cinemablend.com/news/2487375/the-10-best-action-movies-of-2019-ranked# 10. Angel Has Fallen The Has Fallen series feels like it's getting a little long in the tooth. I'm not sure anybody was expecting we'd get a second one of these, much less a third. And yet, here we are in 2019, with Angel Has Fallen. The movie brings back Gerard Butler as the Secret Service agent who's got John McClane's luck of always being in the wrong place at the wrong time. This time, he's suspected of attempting to kill the President of the Unites Stares, so instead of going after the bad guy, he's on the run himself. Angel Has Fallen is clearly the third go-round here, and so while we've seen a lot of this before, it doesn't mean that the action we get here isn't worthy of note. The plot is pretty run of the mill, so the action is basically the only reason to bother if we're being honest. And there are some great sequences here worth enjoying and it's mostly, if not entirely, done with practical effects, which is nice to see in this day and age.

This tweet from China on box office and the great audience rating for Angel has Fallen. but, rank #5 for first day of release. let’s hope that box office total will increase .. a lot of competition not sure how wide of release it had.

Looks to be 3 days of box office totals for release in China — still have no idea how many screens are involved. So far the film is not pulling in any big totals.. hoping they keep in it theaters so it could make it to 10 mil I was hoping for it to make $25 mil doesn’t look like that will happen.

According to Variety AHF has not done well in China quote “Adoring” opened against the Gerard Butler-starring Hollywood action thriller “Angel Has Fallen” and Chinese romantic drama “Begin, Again,” which also released Dec. 31. The Ric Roman Waugh-directed “Angel” has grossed just $6.25 million (RMB43.6 million) putting it on course for a meagre projected total of $9.98 million (RMB69.6 million), according to the Maoyan ticketing platform. “Angel” ranked sixth in ticket sales as of Monday afternoon.” variety.com/2020/film/news/china-box-office-adoring-ip-man-4-angel-has-fallen-1203457867/

More positive press for AHF regarding release on Netflex although the guy slams the movie “A Surprising Action Movie Is Totally Dominating Netflix Right Now 09 April 2020 by Matt Joseph We Got This Covered A Surprising Action Movie Is Totally Dominating Netflix Right Now While Netflix’s wild new docuseries Tiger King is taking over the globe right now, there’s one rather surprising action title that’s absolutely dominating the streaming service’s newly-added Top 10 movies list. wegotthiscovered.com/movies/surprising-action-movie-totally-dominating-netflix/another article about AHF popularity on Netflex.. this one never saw the film and he gave a good review especially for the site Film School Rejects filmschoolrejects.com/angel-has-fallen-netflix/

Thanks, that is great news and a smart move.. with the pandemic it will be e a known series to get financing and fans excited. but I wish they would be able to film Den if Thieves 2 this fall. The film is getting great reviews & fans on Netflex so it is another film that should get funding.
